Album Statement

In the Catholic contemplative tradition, solitude is a sacred space where the individual is isolated in order to discern spiritual wisdom, mature as a whole being, and ‘hear’ the voice of the Divine by facing the interior self.

While the pandemic was experienced as imposed isolation, it was also a space of solitude for those of us with the privilege to work from home.

This album was recorded and produced between 2020 and 2021 as a means of working through my feelings around being quarantined, and the many losses that I and my family suffered during that period. During this pandemic season, I found it necessary to find ways to connect with my ancestors, my family, and others using non-physical channels.
